The Pioneer Spirit
THE PIONEER SPIRIT
What is the pioneer spirit? You can't sum it up in just one word. However, “Freedom” catches most of it's meaning. Who were the pioneers? They originally came over from Europe; Puritans and Pietists. They were seeking freedom from harsh oppressive governments. They were seeking religious freedom among other freedoms. This is because governments, the more they become established and organized, the more they begin taking freedoms away from people. This includes religious freedom and freedom of speech. They won't leave these untouched either. Governments don't know when to stop in their constant lust for power and control, even if they trample conscience and the sacred.
The pioneers broke free and started over. In fact, the pioneering spirit is all about starting over. It is about moving out there into the remote and staking a claim. Pioneers didn't end in colonial America. They have continued to our present day.
The pioneering spirit is also about sharing and helping others. Pioneers notice other pioneers alongside of them. There are many of us trying to do the same thing. We are trying to escape. Escape from, but also to, to that place where we are more self sufficient and less controlled by man. Pioneers lend a helping hand to others on this journey. If we all lean together we can make the breakthrough successfully.
